ISCF RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING
AMATEUR & PROFESSIONAL
STATUS & RULE DIFFERENCES

  1. STATUS

    • AMATEUR IN SPORTS
      • An athlete who has never participated in competition for money. An athlete who is not paid for his/her performance. An athlete at the beginning learning levels of his/her career.

    • PROFESSIONAL IN SPORTS
      • An athlete who is paid for his/her performance. Paid for their excellence of experience, knowledge and ability of their given sport. An athlete who plays for pay.



  2. PURSE

    • AMATEUR
      • NEVER receives a Fight purse.
      • Amateurs are not allowed to be paid a Fighters Purse or win Money in an Amateur MMA Bout. If you have "EVER" been Paid a fighters PURSE or won any Prize Money in ANY Striking Sport (EX: Kickboxing, MMA, Boxing, MuayThai) you are now considered a PROFESSIONAL fighter FOREVER. You are NOT ALLOWED to jump back and forth from Amateur to Professional and back to Amateur. To read more on this Click HERE and HERE.

    • PRO
      • ONLY Professional Fighters may receive a Paid Purse for their fight performance.




  1. EQUIPMENT

    • GLOVE SIZE
      • Fighters are required to wear ISCF approved mixed martial arts style gloves.
        • AMATEUR
          • May not wear an MMA Glove Smaller than 6 ounces.
          • Rash Guards Allowed.
          • Gloves are required to be taped to the fighter by an ISCF Official to ensure their stability during the bout.

        • PRO
          • May not wear an MMA Glove Smaller than 4 ounces.
          • No Rash Guards Allowed.
          • Gloves are required to be taped to the fighter by the ISCF referee to ensure their stability during the bout.




  1. FIGHTING RULES

    • STRIKING

      • AMATEUR
        • No Downward Or Spiking Elbows!
        • No Elbows to the Head.
          • *Rounded Elbows (Forearm Strrikes) to the body are allowed under ISCF Rules.
            • *Rounded Elbows to the Body while Standing are allowed under ISCF Rules.
            • *Rounded Elbows to the Body while on the ground are allowed under ISCF Rules.
        • No Knees to the Head
          • *Knees to the Body & Head while Standing are allowed under ISCF Rules.
          • *Knees to the Body while on the ground are allowed under ISCF Rules.
        • *Final decisions are determined by each individual state and additional options of less weapons can apply during matchmaking.
          • (*) Any and All State Boxing/Athletic Commission Rules and Regulations over-rule any rules and regulations noted here.
            Some State Commissions do not allow knees to the Head or Elbows at all and if so, thus would be the rule for a bout within that State.


      • PRO
        • Forearm Strikes and Rounded Elbows are permitted.
        • No Downward Or Spiking Elbows!



    • ROUND TIMES

      • AMATEURS
        • ISCF Amateur "NON TITLE" matches shall be THREE (3) rounds, each of THREE (3) minutes in length, with a one (1) minute rest between each round.
        • ISCF Amateur Title matches shall consist of FIVE (5) rounds, each of THREE (3) minutes in length, with a one (1) minute rest between each round.

      • PRO
        • All ISCF Professional non-title matches as well as State or Regional Title Matches shall consist of THREE (3) rounds, each of FIVE (5) minutes in length, with a one (1) minute rest between each round.
        • All ISCF Professional Title Matches (State, Regional, National, Continental, World) shall consist of FIVE (5) rounds, each of FIVE (5) minutes in length, with a one (1) minute rest between each round.
