RESULTS FROM
"MMA EVOLUTION IV"
September 29th, 2007 - Bloomington, Illinois, USA

Chris Tickle
Wins ISCF Illinois Lightweight Title

Right now, there may be bigger events held every 5 or 6 months in the state of Illinois but the crew at "The Hive" in Bloomington, IL have decided to put together "quality" events every month or two and it appears that they intend to become "THE SHOW" in Illinois.

With experience gained from every shows, by making sound business decisions and booking quality match-ups, they may be well on their way to doing it. The Interstate Center in Bloomington, Illinois was the location for MMA Evolution IV on September 29, 2007 featuring an appearance from former UFC and Bodog fighter Derrick "The Eraser" Noble and a great fight card highlighted by a feature match-up for "The Hive" Welterweight Title between Trent Rodgers from Fowler, IN and Nick Sandage from Cooksville, Illinois and the nights main event for the ISCF Illinois State Lightweight Title/"The Hive" Lightweight Title contested between Derek Brown from East Peoria, Illinois and Chris Tickle from Danvers, Illinois.

From the opening bell of the first bout to the final bell of the main event, the night was electric and the crowd was either standing in the aisles or on their seats.
The results of the night…

  1. MEN'S FEATHERWEIGHT
Joe Jackson, 2-1-0, Paducah, Kentucky, Joe Dukes, Vs **Jimmy Hibbits, 1-1-0, Havana, Illinois, Bob Long
At the opening bell, Jackson comes across the cage throwing punches at Hibbetts head and follows up with a double leg take down picking Hibbetts up and dumping him on his back. Hibbetts tries to hold Jackson's head down but Jackson pulls his head out and swings his leg over to achieve a full mount on top of Hibbetts. Holding Hibbetts head down with his left hand, Jackson begins to punch Hibbetts in the head with his right. Hibbetts is unable to defend himself from the overpowering right hands and forces Referee Chris Rudesill to stop the fight at 1:00 of the first round.
    Winner by TKO-Joseph Jackson.

  2. MEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT
Jason Smith, 1-0-0, Normal, Illinois, Academy of Mixed Martial Arts, Vs **Larry Karlsen, 0-1-0, Gibson City, Illinois, John Karlsen
In the debut match-up for both fighters, after touching gloves to start the fight, Karlsen shoots for a takedown which is blocked by Smith. Smith sprawls and swings Karlsen over onto his back. Smith, from a half mount begins the ground and pound onto Karlsen's head. Karlsen tries to stifle the punches but is unable to do so. Smith pulls his leg out for a full mount and continues to blast Karlsen in the head. Karlsen, not defending himself, forces Referee Chris Rudesill to stop the fight at :31 of the first round.
    Winner by TKO-Jason Smith.

Lawson twists and allows Mullins to swing his leg over Lawson's body into a full mount where Mullins begins to pound on Lawson. Lawson continues to twist and turn eventually giving Mullins his back where Mullins immediately throws a rear naked choke around Lawson's neck forcing Lawson to tapout at :54 of the first round.

He then throws a couple of well placed knees to Milroy's body causing Milroy to bend over and turn away from Yoakum with his arms over his head forcing Referee Bob Long to stop the fight at :28 in the first round.

  5. MEN'S LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT
John Bardin, 2-1-0, Paducah, Kentucky, Team Pride, Vs David Gaston, 2-0-0, Peoria, Illinois, Ryan Blackorby
Fight starts with a Bardin front kick to Gaston's stomach followed by a Gaston right hook to Bardin's face. He is able to get his arms around Gaston and starts throwing knees to Gaston's body causing Gaston to back off. Gaston shoots again and manages to take Bardin down but mounts him too high and allows Bardin to slide out from between Gaston's legs. Bardin ends up on top of Gaston's back. Gaston rolls but Bardin rolls with him keeping Gaston's back. Bardin throws punches to Gaston's head and body as he tries to continue moving to escape. All judges gave the edge to Bardin in the first round.
ROUND 2: The round started like the first, kicks from Bardin, punches from Gaston. Bardin throws a right round kick at Gaston's head which Gaston ducks under and charges Bardin backing him up and pins him standing against the cage. With a single leg takedown, Gaston puts Bardin down onto the canvass. With Gaston in a half mount, Bardin is able to roll and reverse the hold putting Gaston on the bottom with Bardin in a side mount on top. Gaston turns toward Bardin and gets to his knees facing him. The round ends with both men facing each other. The edge to the round going to Bardin on all judges cards.
ROUND 3: Gaston jumps at Bardin with devastating punches that catch Bardin square in the head and stunning Bardin. Bardin wraps his arms around Gaston and pulls him to the ground. Karlsen, standing over Mosack, grabs Mosack's ankle and attempts an ankle lock.
